June 6th 2005 - View from the far end of the plant towards the control room with the leach circuits on the left and purification circuits on the right.
View of the leach residue belt filter installation with the filter bed and its supporting framework upper left. In the foreground are the vacuum pump and vacuum receiver, which is located under the walkway.
June 6th 2005 - View from the mezzanine floor above the control room overlooking the purification circuits and the leach residue belt filter being installed on the far left.
June 6th 2005 - View of the VSDs (variable speed drives) located in the MCC (Motor Control Centre) for speed control of all mixers and pumps.
May 24th 2005 - View of the five Pyrite Leach reactors followed by two Flocculation tanks ahead of the Pyrite Leach Thickener, which is out of view in the foreground.
May 24th 2005 - View of the plant Feed Preparation area on the left with the two Base Metal Leach reactors on the right.
May 24th 2005 - View of the various leach solution purification circuits with the EAF Dust reactors in the background at the end of the building, followed by the Iron Precipitation reactors with the Copper Precipitation reactors in the foreground.
May 16th 2005 - Southern bund showing the iron precipitation train on the left and the copper recovery circuit on the right. The EAF dust leach train is just upstream and behind the iron precipitation tanks.
May 16th 2005 - The Motor Control Centre showing the 3 phase main electrical incomer (on the left) and the myriad of motor drive contactor connections being made. There are over 150 motor drives in the demonstration plant – more than at the Hellyer mine
May 5th 2005 - View of the MCC (Motor Control Centre) showing banks of VSDs (Variable Speed Drives) being installed
May 5th 2005 - View of the MCC on top of the plant control room with cable trays entering through the rear wall.
April 26th 2005 - View of the complete leach circuit now installed in the Burnie Demonstration Plant. The Base Metal Leach (including two leach tanks and thickener) is at the far end of the building, with the Pyrite Leach.
April 15th 2005 - The main leach train installation began at the Burnie demonstration plant and will be continuing throughout this week. The photo shows the first leach tanks being placed in position.
February 25th 2005 - The zinc electrowinning cell (pictured below) for the Burnie demonstration plant under construction at the University of Sydney. The cell comprises two commercial scale electrode pairs.
