Nickel resources are commonly found as either nickel sulphides or as nickel oxides, known as nickel laterites. Applications of the Intec Process have been developed for both: the Intec Nickel Process and the Intec Nickel Laterite Process, respectively.
While the majority of nickel historically and in current production comes from sulphide sources, the number of remaining sulphide orebodies is decreasing. Over 70% of current land-based nickel resources are laterites, emphasising the increasing importance of technologies that can treat nickel laterites.
